2. Impossible Marketing
Impossible Marketing is one of the most unique and interesting events that we are introducing this year. The participants will have to push their marketing skills to the limit by convincing the audience and the judges that their product is the best & can cater to a specific pre-defined market. The topics of this event will be given out to the teams one week in advance for them to prepare. Examples of the topics are - Hair Gel to Bald People, Ice to Eskimos, etc.
3. Monopoly
Monopoly is a leisure event where participants can test their investing and bargaining skills. It is based on the very popular board game with the same name. This is a major event which will run for 2 days parallel to the rest of the events. The game is played out on a live-size Monopoly Board that we will build where participants themselves are the tokens and hence can walk on the board. It gives a much more interactive feel and attracts a lot of crowd since it will be held in an open environment.
4. Mad Ad
Mad Ad is an event that has been a part of Horizon for many years and is an event that everyone looks forward to. Here the participants get to express their creativity by showcasing their advertising skills in the form of an enactment. Products to be advertised will be assigned prior to the event.
5. Print Ad
Print Ad will follow the same agenda as MAD AD but instead of an enactment they will have to bring out posters or banners, etc.
6. Debate
Debate, as the name states, is an event where there will be two teams, a ‘for’ and an ‘against’. Each team will have 3 members who will individually go up on stage and state their opinions and rebuttal regarding the pre-mentioned topic.
7. Corporate Fashion Show
Horizons includes a lot of intellectual events and activities and sometimes a breather from such activities is required. This is an event where participants have to be dressed in formal attires, in the best way possible. The contestants will have to walk the ramp while showcasing their formal wear to the audience as well as the judges.
8. Manipal’s Got Talent
As aforementioned, too much intellectuality leads to boredom and exhaustion for the participants as well as the audience. So we decided to introduce this new event where anyone can take part and showcase their talents on stage where judges will give them points accordingly. It is not restricted to just singing and dancing; it could be any talent, ranging from beat boxing to mimicking, stand-up comedies, etc.
9. Business Fest
The Business Fest is not a competition. It is basically a platform where students can set up their own stalls where they can choose to either sell something, for example – mobile covers, t-shirts, accessories, etc. or can set up a gaming stall like knock over the cans, darts, put the ring around the bottle, etc.
10. Gaming Event
The youth today seemed to be attracted the most to virtual gaming. So we decided to cater to these needs of theirs as well, and hence the Gaming Event will be conducted by us. This will include console gaming where contestants will challenge each other in many rounds of different games, which will be provided by us. The Gaming Event will not run parallel to any other events. During other events the gaming room will be closed.
11. Business Plan
In today’s day we see a lot of young entrepreneurs come up with new and unique ideas. This event is a platform for these young entrepreneurs to come on stage and present their ideas for new businesses and how they plan to achieve and execute them. The best Business Plan will be decided by the judges who are the experts regarding this subject.
